SALES staff are better equipped to help customers through the process of buying a home after completing a course of study championed by their employer Redrow Homes. Three Wiltshire-based Redrow sales consultants are among nine in the region
Three Wiltshire-based Redrow sales consultants are among nine in the region celebrating a 100% pass rate after completing the NVQ level 2 in the sale of residential property.
Its the first time employees of the Bristol-based housebuilder have undertaken the award.
Mum of three Sarah Hughes, from Chippenham, was one of the successful candidates. Based at Redrows Willowbrook development, in Devizes, she said: Im grateful to Redrow for the opportunity to complete the NVQ and think it great that they throw so much support behind their staff development.
Its really made me focus on what the job entails and has given me more confidence in certain areas, such as legislation and the various acts of parliament that relate to the industry. We also learnt numerous skills that will benefit our customers so we can maintain a high level of customer service, such as the correct way to demonstrate a new home.
Some of the competencies covered by the course include maximising the benefits of accompanied viewings of properties, how to progress customer enquiries with all property services and best practice for demonstrating a new home to customers.
Others who made the grade were Liz Pike, also based at Willowbrook, and Carole Anderson, based at Cowbridge Mill in Malmesbury.
The qualifications took six month to complete and were assessed by the National House Building Council (NHBC), who praised Redrow for their positive approach to staff training.
It is always a pleasure working with Redrow and its employees as their approach to professional development through qualifications is to be applauded, said Geoff Mann, qualifications manager at the NHBC.
We value our association with Redrow in offering a broad range of qualifications to meet their aspirations and the construction industry as a whole across the whole of the UK.
Rob Carr, Redrows senior development and training advisor, said: We are committed to providing ongoing training to staff members so they can develop their personal skills and improve their depth of knowledge.
Many of the sale team undertook work in their own time showing their commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service.
An online system allows candidates to work at their own pace and upload evidence as they complete various tasks during their everyday work. This is followed up by a number of visits by an NHBC assessor to observe their working practices and endorse their competence to the NVQ standards in areas such as health and safety, professional conduct, knowledge of legislation and hand-over of new properties to customers.
Redrow builds more than 2,500 new homes annually across England, Scotland and Wales, with an emphasis on traditional, detached family housing from the recently introduced New Heritage Collection.
