This year Beaudesert Park School in Minchinhampton will see the highest number of children joining its Pre-prep Department for six years. The independent Cotswolds prep school for boys and girls aged 4 - 13 enjoys a reputation for offering a high achieving, academically aspiring education coupled with a flexible approach to after school care and boarding.
The Pre-prep department, for children aged 4-7, certainly sounds an exciting place to start school. Head of Pre-prep, Kirsty Henderson, expanded; "Learning should be fun, and we work really hard to make sure the children develop a joy of learning whilst getting off to a great start academically and having plenty of opportunity to explore other activities. Class sizes are small, and our approach is innovative and flexible. For example we've recently been employing the Independent Thinking Skills and Philosophy for Children initiatives, which offer ways to open up children's learning through enquiry, and the exploration of ideas. The children thrive on their Forest School sessions too - lessons spent exploring the grounds whilst following the curriculum - magical! We also have our own design technology and
cookery room, and out-of- hours activities range from judo to art and gymnastics."
Parent involvement is actively encouraged, and their feedback counts. The last parent survey resulted in Beaudesert Pre-prep extending its after-school care for free. To the delight of many a time-pressed parent, children can arrive at 8am and stay until 5.30pm. Another parent-friendly initiative is the "drive-through drop-off" morning drop-off now takes seconds rather than minutes, and parents don't even have to leave the car!
