Goughs, one of Wiltshires leading law firms, would like to congratulate Lavington School, Devizes, who achieved Academy status on January 1st 2011.
Goughs formed a close working relationship with Lavington School, providing advice and assistance throughout the conversion process. Lavington is now one of only three secondary schools in Wiltshire to become an independent Academy. The other outstanding schools include Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, who also instructed Goughs when converting to an Academy.
Becoming an Academy provides a host of benefits not only to the school itself, but also to its pupils and the wider community. Head teacher Martin Watson now has the freedom to decide which services the school wishes to buy and from whom and can offer pupils a more flexible and expanded curriculum.
Martin Watson commented We are delighted to achieve Academy status and no longer have to take a one size fits all approach to education. We have received excellent service from Goughs, who were recommended to us by Jan Hatherell (Head Teacher at Hardenhuish School), and would recommend their services to other schools who are thinking of going through this process.
Goughs encourages all schools who are considering applying for Academy status to contact Gabby Corp or Kevin Basnett on 01249 812086 to discuss the legal and practical implications or to arrange a no obligation meeting.
