Members of the press are invited to apply for media accreditation to this years Barbury International Horse Trials, near Marlborough Wiltshire, 28 June to 1 July.
The Horse Trials is a highlight in the British eventing calendar and has been the final pre-championship run prior to the last two Olympics for many British based nations. Accordingly, this years event was brought forward, a month before the Eventing phase of the Olympics at Greenwich Park to accommodate this. In turn the Barbury International is anticipating a bumper crowd and increased media attendance as numerous British based nations have earmarked the CIC*** competition, including Team GB as a final run for horse and rider prior to London 2012.
Press members can apply for accreditation in the press and media section at: www.barburyhorsetrials.co.uk.Deadline for accreditation is 18 June 2012.
A media centre, with broadband internet will be accessible for accrediated press from 29 June to 1 July.
The competition, which culminates with the world-class three star cross country phase on the Sunday, boasts an impressive roll of honour. 2011 Burghley winner and Team GB member William Fox-Pitt won the first event in 2005 and last year Pippa Funnell took the honours in a nail biting finale on board Billy Landretti. Nicola Wilson a member of the British eventing squad gold medal winning team at the last World Equestrian Games, won in 2010.
In addition, on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July, the Wiltshire County Show will feature a variety of displays and demonstrations celebrating Wiltshire life and new for 2012 is the CGA Festival of Food, showcasing celebrity chefs in the AGA Rangemaster Cookery Theatre as well as local producers and over hundred shops across the event.
