It has now been 2 years since we lost our beloved Mark, as a way of celebrating Marks life with the help of family, friends and willing models have created Sherstons first calendar au natural called the Doyles Dolls.
Mark died at the age of 33 in a freak road accident on the way to work. For those who may not have been fortunate enough to have met Mark, he was one of the true good guys and Marks friends described him as one of a kind, warm, gentle, loyal and someone you could turn to when you needed a shoulder to cry on, a buddy to drink with or just some sound advice!! Mark lived in Sherston and the surrounding villages for the last seven years of his life. Sherston was the place Mark truly felt at home, he loved the village and its community spirit and actively participated in all of village life. Mark had many loves in life firstly his beautiful wife George, music, teaching, reading, his immediate family plus extended family based in Birmingham, Birmingham City Football Club, chocolate and the odd drink or too. But fatherhood was the pinnacle of Marks life, Charlie really was the apple of Marks eye and during their short time together they experienced a wide variety of activities including WOMAD, The Big Chill and Glastonbury Festival together. Mark was looking forward to sharing this and much more with their second child Fred who was born 6 months after Marks death. Mark was also very sporty and fiercely competitive playing football from an early age, a keen water skier, snow boarder always trying to catch air and boule player in the Rattlebone Boule league.
As a way of remembering Marks love of life, the proceeds of this calendar and the other fund raising activities held in Marks memory are to buy play equipment for the Sherston recreational ground later this year which will be in situ in 2012. The play equipment is of an extremely high standard and aimed at engaging with children of all ages young and young at heart and will be a great asset to Sherston and fun for all.
So on behalf of Mark, thank you for enjoying this calendar and all its contents.
