1,060 runners, walkers and toddlers took part in this years Tidworth 10k & 3k Fun Run on Sunday November 7th in support of the Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal. Many repeat visitors were delighted at the improvement in the weather, with sun replacing last years torrential rain.
The event, organised for the 6th year running by the British Army, was sponsored by Aviva and FTX Logistics. Funds raised by the event will help pay for projects benefiting patients throughout Salisbury District Hospital including the Appeals current main goal of providing a family accommodation unit for the parents and siblings of premature and critically ill babies.
Third-time Tidworth runner Dominique Nicholls said, Tidworth 10k has always been and always will be my favourite run of the year. Today was absolutely fantastic and I loved every second of it. The marshals are fantastic, if a little economical with the truth when it come to how many hills are left to tackle!
Dave Cates, Appeal Director, said, It was wonderful to see so many runners return this year, undeterred by 2009s terrible weather. With more than 1,000 participants, were really hoping that we can raise over 30,000 for the Stars Appeal. So Id like to remind everyone to collect in their sponsorship money and send it to us as soon as they can. Our thanks go to all of 1 Mechanised Brigade Headquarters & Signal Squadron (215) for their great organisation, and to everyone who supported the event.
